Natural disasters affecting Malawi’s national development plans

Charles Mkula discusses a quote pulled from a  Department of Disaster Management Affairs report:

“Marginalized groups have less social power and fewer economic resources and physical capacity to anticipate, survive and recover from the effects of disasters,” reports the department pointing out that “the elderly, disabled, the sick, the poor and children are particularly vulnerable”.

Earthquake hits Northeastern India and causes mudslides

Our thoughts are with the people of India, Nepal, Tibet in their time of need. We know that tremendous  difficulties lie ahead in the rescue, recovery, and eventual rebuilding process. While the the first responders do their jobs expediting rescues and recoveries, we will monitor the developments in the aftermath and the displacement of the peoples that have lost their homes by keeping in touch with our friends on the ground and other sources. Check back for resources as they becomes available.
